Web Site History

The first Alumni Association web page was created on August 24, 2000, by NAVCOMMSTA Londonderry Alumnus Jim Sullivan, an RM at the base in 1964-1965.  Jim, one of the original four founders of the Alumni Association, served as both Vice President of the Navcommsta Londonderry Alumni Association and as Web Master for the web site from its creation until February 20, 2004, when his "tour of duty" on the Board of Directors came to a close.

Starting February 21, 2004,  Mike Anderson, an RM/LT at the base in 1975-1977. Mike served as both Vice President of the Navcommsta Londonderry Alumni Association and as Web Master for the web site. Mike's "Tour of Duty" as Web Master ended on May 27, 2006, at which time he assumed the duties of Secretary of the Alumni Association.

About Web Master: Jim Sullivan

This Web Site was created on March 22, 2001, by former East-Ender Jim Sullivan.  Jim was born and raised in the East End of Bridgeport, living first at 93 Clifford Street, a short dead-end street off Newfield Avenue, from 1944 to 1956, before moving "up on the Avenue" to 1834 Stratford Avenue from 1956 to 1962.

Jim graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grammar School in 1958. He then spent a somewhat "unremarkable" freshman year at Notre Dame High School before transferring to Harding High School for his final three years and graduating in 1962. "Still the best move I ever made -- well, not counting my convincing Mary Ann, my wife of 37 years, to marry me back in 1969, of course!"

Jim and his twin brother, Joe, were more generally known as The Sullivan Twins  "back in the day." Here is a 2001 photo of Jim (on the left) and Joe:  View: Jim and Joe

Retired from the U.S. Federal Government's Civil Service since 1996, Jim and his family live in Cary, North Carolina, their home since 1969. He is a 1999 Magna Cum Laude  graduate of North Carolina State University, where he received his BA in History, and where he is currently a Graduate Student pursuing a Master's Degree in American History (with a concentration on "The Civil War" era, or as it is more commonly known here in the south, "The War of Northern Aggression." Being I'm originally from Connecticut, I always chuckle a little when I hear someone use that particular phrase!)
