Life Legacy
Alvah Joe Holder, 68, of Wichita Falls, went to be at peace with the Lord and
with those who have gone before him on July 4, 2013. His spirit touched many
lives and will be missed.
Joe was born November 27, 1944, in Graham, Texas to parents Thelma and Clarence
Holder. He was raised in Graham until joining the Navy as a Radioman. He graduated
from the US Naval School in San Diego, CA on October 4, 1963. He proudly served
in the Navy until 1977 with an honorable discharge. He served in Vietnam, the
Philippines, as well as Northern Ireland. After the service his passion for
Radio carried over to civilian life as a certified HAM Radio Operator, which
he got a special class license. His handle could be heard over the air waves
many days and nights to friends worldwide. He truly touched many lives with
his voice and will be missed.
In the summer on June 5, 1979 he married his beloved wife, Juanita Darlene Gillentine.
The two of them shared a deep and committed love to each other. Between the
two they shared 5 loved children, Laura Suzanne Holder – Brown, Frances
Michelle Holder – Kwiecinski, William David Casteel, Crystal Gail O’Neal,
and Tracie Don Scheller.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Thelma (Melton) Holder; and father,
Clarence Lee; as well as his brother, Estle Lee Holder.
His family and friends will carry his memory forever in their hearts.
A burial at sea ceremony is being planned for a later date.
