Elizabeth (Betty) Roddy Cohen February 20, 1943 - July 13, 2015 Resided in Virginia Beach, VA Elizabeth (Betty) Roddy Cohen, age 72, died July 13, 2015, at Virginia Beach General Hospital following an extended and bravely fought illness. Betty, as she preferred to be called, was born February 20, 1943 in Derry, Northern Ireland, the daughter of Robert Roddy and Margaret Livingstone Roddy. Being the lively and charismatic woman that she always was, there was never a dull moment when around Betty. Her laugh was infectious, and one found it nearly impossible not to burst out in laughter when in her presence. After marrying the love of her life in 1966, Steven Cohen, her one and only, the two remained inseparable until Steve's unexpected death in 2000. The couple had two children, Jennifer and Robert. Betty's charming personality and quick wit made her a top saleswoman at Montgomery Wards, where she was employed for over 10 years. Following Steve's retirement from The Navy in 1987, the family moved to and settled in Virginia Beach. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret; as well as her husband, Steven. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer; son, Robert; brothers, Robert and John; sister-in-law, Enid; daughter-in-law, Diana; beloved grandson, Steven; as well as a plethora of friends and family. There will be a Mass at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015, followed by a gravesite service at Eastern Shore Chapel, 2020 Laskin Road, where Betty will then be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Steven. Following the service, a reception will be held at Betty's home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to The American Heart Association.
