Obituary for George Francis Galligan Sr.George Francis Galligan, Sr. 73, of Ocala, FL went to Heaven from Ocala, FL on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Born in Troy, NY on September 27, 1938, son to the late Joseph and Margaret (Spiers) Galligan, Sr., he moved to Ocala in 1988 after having moved among many states throughout his career. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served 24 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7) in 1980 at Tallahassee, FL. He then worked several years as a store manager. George was a lifetime member of the Angela Santos VFW Post 4781 of Ocala where he remained active. He so enjoyed the many hours with the horses and dogs who lived at the farm of his Cherished Friend, Polly. He was also preceded in death by his Beloved Wife of 39 years, Frances Meraide O’Neil Galligan in 2006 and his brother Joseph Galligan, Jr. He is survived by his sisters Margaret Rutolo (Carman) and Eleanor Elliston, both of Troy, NY; children Christopher Galligan and his wife Melinda of TX, Margaret Galligan-Prater and her companion DJ Prater of St. Augustine, FL, Eleanor Galligan of Ocala and George F. Galligan, Jr and his wife Tiffany of Albany, GA; grandchildren Sidney, Conner, Austin, Colin and Josie; and many other members of family and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the TimberRidge Chapel of HIers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala followed by a Mass at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 Southeast 17th St., Ocala on Monday, June 25th at 10:00AM. Urn committal services will follow later in the week at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with full military honors by the Angela Santos VFW Post 4781 Honor Guard.
