George F. Spaits, 75, of Northampton died Monday, October 7 in Lehigh Valley
Hospital Muhlenberg Bethlehem. George and his wife Martha Dympna (Doherty) Spaits
celebrated 52 years of marriage on January 31st. Born April 3, 1938 in Hokendauqua,
he was the son of the late Frank and Ethel (Beidleman) Spaits. George honorably
served his country in the United States Navy and retired after 20 years of service.
He was also employed at Bell Telephone which became AT&T. He was a member
of the Catholic War Veterans post #454, Veteran of Foreign Wars post #4714 and
the American Legion post #353 all of Northampton. George was a member of Queenship
of Mary Church. He was a member of the Northampton Borough Recreation Center
and would work out daily. Survivors: Besides his wife, Martha; sons, Frank Spaits
and his wife Leatha, of Northampton, Michael Spaits and his wife Sharon, of
Navarre, FL, Damian Spaits and his fiancee, Ayesha, of Lancaster, CA; daughter,
Colleen, wife of Matt Szerencsits, of Lewis Center, OH; two granddaughters,
Siobhan and Ciara; brother, James Spaits and his wife Donna, of Jacksonville,
FL; stepbrothers, James Mills and his wife Linda of Stiles and Frank Mills and
his wife Kathy, of Coplay. Services: A Burial Mass will be celebrated on Friday
October 11 at 10:30 a.m. in Queenship of Mary Church; 1324 Newport Ave.; Northampton.
Family and friends may call Thursday 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday 9 to 10 a.m.
in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Burial with military
honors will follow in the Our Lady of Hungary Parish Cemetery. Online condolences
