Manchester - Joseph Louis Banks Jr. of Manchester died Feb. 3, 2014, at the Concord Hospital after a sudden illness.He was born in Boston on Jan. 12, 1940, the son of Joseph L. and Marilyn V. (Insley) Banks Sr. He graduated from Stoughton High School.Joseph served in the U.S. Navy for over 26 years prior to his honorable discharge.Most recently, he had been employed by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency.He was an avid sports fan, particularly of both American and European football. Since retirement, he and his wife had resided in Ireland and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Family members include his wife, with whom he has been with since 1963, Martha "Myra" Banks of Manchester; his children, Cathy Lake and husband Peter of Gloucester, Mass., Joseph L. Banks III and wife Lorette of Manchester, and Dana Banks of Manchester; grandchildren Keleigh, Dillon and Jenna; his brothers, David and Timothy Banks; many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins..

SERVICES: Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester, will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his memory to the American Heart Association , 2 Wall St., Manchester, NH 03101.To send a message of condolence, please go to www.lambertfuneralhome.com.
