Janet Flint
1954 - 2014 | Notice | Condolences
Flint, Janet Janet Lea Reichert Flint, 60, passed away on August 10, 2014 surrounded by family. She lost a 6 year battle with breast cancer, fought with bravery and dignity. Janet was born June 3, 1954 to parents Glenn and Ginger Reichert. She was preceded in death by the death of her second husband, Robert Flint. Her first husband, Boyd Karns, remained a good friend and confidant to the end. At the age of 20, Janet enlisted in the U.S. Navy. She was a Dental Technician, 2nd Class, from 1974-1980. After she was honorably discharged, she completed her nursing degree in Orlando. Janet graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1982. Janet had a wide array of interests, all of which embodied her vibrancy and love of life. She grew up swimming competitively, which translated into a lifelong love of water. She enjoyed many canoe trips with good friends in her adolescence, sailing, and appreciating the beauty of the coast. She loved to travel and experience new places and make her positive impression on whomever she would meet. She particularly enjoyed an intellectual escape into a good book. But one of the things she most enjoyed was retreating into the company of family and friends over dinner and a glass of wine. She is survived by her daughter Marie Karns, mother, Virginia "Ginger" Reichert, sister Karen Milner (husband Dave), and sister Karla Ogilvie (husband Greg). A memorial service will be held on Thursday August 14, 2014 at 5:00 pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Altamonte East Chapel, 994 East Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. Open house reception to follow at Janet's home, 671 Sausalito Blvd, Casselberry, FL 32707. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Red Cross or the American Cancer Society in Janet's honor.
