Thomas Behra, age 70, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 following an extended illness. He was born in Canton on December 21, 1938 to the late Clement and Cornelia Behra and was a graduate of Timken High School. Thomas went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University, Stark Campus and his Master's Degree from Walsh University. He retired from Smyth System's where he was employed as a service technician. Thomas proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He was a heart transplant recipient of 18 years and was the President of the Akron Canton Transplant Recipients International Organization for the past 12 years. He was also a member of the Amateur Radio Association and enjoyed photography. He was a computer enthusiast and will always be remembered as a wonderful person. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Clem Behra; and his sister Sue Meeks. Survivors include his life companion of 22 years Marion Fread; daughter Debbie Anderson; son and daughter-in-law Glenn and Lisa Behra; grandchildren Erin, Leah and Brogan; and nephews Bill, Mike and John Meeks, Robert and Jim Behra. In honoring his wishes, Thomas will be cremated and there will be no services. The Reed Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
