Andrews: Virgil Holmes Mixon, 71, died Monday, October 26, 2009, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mixon was born on December 7, 1937 in Andrews, a son of the late Ansel Lee Mixon and Rebecca Ard Mixon. He grew up in Andrews and was a graduate of Andrews High School. Mr. Mixon served in the U. S. Navy from 1957 to 1962 and was stationed in Londonderry, Ireland for a time. He attained the rank of RM2. Mr. Mixon retired in December 2007 as manager of Allied Credit Service, where he had been employed since 1962. He was a member of Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church and the A. L. Mixon Sunday School Class. Mr. Mixon loved hunting and fishing and was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Mixon was predeceased by: two brothers, Dwight Mixon and C. Levon Mixon; and a sister, Frances Mixon. Surviving are: his wife, Lynn Blakeley Mixon of Andrews; three sons, Dwight Mixon (Annette) of James Island, Craig Mixon (Susan) of Asheboro, N. C., and Lane Mixon (Kelly) of Trio; a daughter, Shana Barrineau (Roger) of Andrews; a brother, Phillip Mixon (Rebecca) of Andrews; a sister, Faye Stuckey of Nesmith; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be at eleven o'clock Thursday morning, October 29, 2009, at Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Billy Miles and the Rev. Donald Duncan.
